(December 31, 2019) - - Today (December 31, 2019), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published the following information:

CDC today announced the updated number of hospitalized e-cigarette, or vaping, product use associated lung injury (EVALI) cases* and EVALI deaths.

EVALI Deaths
  • As of December 27, 2019, 55 deaths have been confirmed in 27 states and the District of Columbia:
Alabama, California, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
  • More deaths are under investigation.

*As of December 3, 2019, CDC only reports hospitalized EVALI cases, and EVALI deaths, regardless of hospitalization status.
