These estimates are available as a limited number of downloadable datasets. These estimates are based on the 2010 Census and were created without incorporation or consideration of the 2020 Census results. They are typically used in comparisons with the 2020 Census to make determinations about the accuracy of the estimates.     (August 7, 2018) - - The U.S. Census Bureau has announced that Carol Gore is now serving as chair of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) on Racial, Ethnic and Other Populations.

    Ms. Gore is president and chief executive officer of Cook Inlet Housing Authority. She has served on the committee for five years including the past three years as NAC vice chair.



    Julie Dowling is now assuming the role of NAC vice chair. Dr. Dowling is an associate professor in the Department of Latina/Latino Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has served as a NAC member since 2014.

    As Secretary of Commerce, today I directed the National Marine Fisheries Service to facilitate access to the water needed to fight the ongoing wildfires affecting the State of California. One of the fires, the Mendocino Complex Fire, has developed into the largest in the state’s history, consuming nearly 300,000 acres in Northern California. American lives and property are at stake and swift action is needed. The Department of Commerce is doing everything possible to help, with NOAA satellites providing vital weather information and National Weather Service employees providing on the scene information to fire officials.
