    (March 23, 2020) - - Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published the following information:

    Due to circumstances resulting from COVID-19, all Migrant Protection Protocol (MPP) master calendar and merit hearings presently scheduled through April 22 will be rescheduled. Neither the MPP program nor any hearings will be cancelled.

    Any individual with an MPP hearing date through April 22 should present themselves at their designated port of entry on their previously scheduled date to receive a tear sheet and hearing notice containing their new hearing dates. DHS and EOIR are deeply committed to ensuring that individuals ‘have their day in court’ while also ensuring the health and safety of aliens, our frontline officers, immigration court professionals, and our citizens.

Social Security and OIG have made concerted efforts to educate the public about these scams – in which fraudulent callers mislead victims into making cash or gift card payments to avoid arrest for purported Social Security number problems.     (January 24, 2020) - - Today (January 24, 2020), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security published the following information: WASHINGTON, D.C.- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently sent letters to the Governors of all states, the District of Columbia, and territories asking them to provide DHS with a monthly update of the number of REAL IDs issued by their jurisdictions. The states now report to DHS that they have collectively issued more than 95 million REAL ID-compliant driver’s licenses and ID cards (34%) out of 276 million total cards.     • FEMA cannot pay for damage covered by insurance or duplicate benefits from another source.
    • FEMA grants are meant for costs to return your home to a safe and sanitary living space or functional condition. Damage to non-essential space or property is not eligible under FEMA programs.
