NOAA says Large, deep Antarctic Ozone Hole to persist into November

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says Large, deep Antarctic Ozone Hole to persist into November | site |

(October 30, 2020) - - On October 30, 2020 the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) published the following information:

Persistent cold temperatures and strong circumpolar winds supported the formation of a large and deep Antarctic ozone hole that will persist into November, NOAA and NASA scientists reported today.

A NOAA ozonesonde - - an instrument used to help scientists monitor the Antarctic ozone hole - - ascends over the South Pole in this time-lapse photo taken October 21, 2020. Ideal weather conditions helped create a large, persistent ozone hole that will last into November 2020.
