Washington - - At its open meeting today, the Federal Election Commission unanimously approved an advisory opinion and an Audit Division Recommendation Memorandum.
Advisory Opinion 2022-02 (Steube) The Commission approved Advisory Opinion 2022-02 in response to a request from Rep. W. Gregory Steube and Steube for Congress, concluding that the proposed use of campaign funds for the purchase and installation of a locking steel security gate as part of the residential security system as specifically recommended by the requestor’s county sheriff’s office, and more generally by the Office of the House Sergeant at Arms, is permissible under the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (the Act,) and Commission regulations.

REG 2012-01 (Electioneering Communications Reporting) - Draft Notice of Disposition Prior to the meeting, on March 21, the Commission approved by tally vote the Notice of Disposition of a Petition for Rulemaking by the Center for Individual Freedom. Mr. Kitcher, whose appointment becomes effective July 18, oversees the Enforcement Division, which is the largest division of the Office of General Counsel. The lawsuit, filed on January 31, 2014, challenged the Commission’s dismissal of the Plaintiffs’ administrative complaint against Crossroads Grassroots Political Strategies (MUR 6396). The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 (BCRA) included provisions that indexed some contribution limits for inflation.
