    (April 16, 2018) - - Today, the Department of Health and Human Services issued the following statement: Earlier today, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex M. Azar II, was discharged from St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana after he was admitted yesterday for treatment of a minor infection. The Secretary has been fully functional during his brief period of observation and has been in regular contact with HHS senior leadership. He will be back in the office tomorrow in Washington, D.C. The Secretary and his family thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes. They are extremely grateful for the incredible doctors and nurses who provided him with excellent care during his one-night stay at St. Vincent’s.     Washington, DC - - (March 20, 2018) - - The Internal Revenue Service reminded taxpayers today that it’s not too late to contribute to an Individual Retirement Arrangement (IRA) and still claim it on a 2017 tax return. Anyone with an IRA may be eligible for a tax credit or deduction on their 2017 tax return if they make contributions by April 17, 2018.

    This is the sixth in a series of nine IRS news releases called the Tax Time Guide, designed to help taxpayers navigate common tax issues. This year’s tax-filing deadline is April 17.     Atlanta, GA - - (March 28, 2017) - - The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding businesses in North Carolina that working capital loans are still available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and private nonprofit organizations affected by high winds, flooding and severe storms on July 16, 2016.

    “Businesses that suffered economic losses as a result of the disaster and want to apply for low-interest loans from the SBA are urged to do so before the April 26 deadline,” said Frank Skaggs, director of SBA Field Operations Center East.

    Low-interest disaster loans are available in the following counties: Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person and Wake in North Carolina.
