    (November 10, 2020) - - Today, November 10, 2020, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management published the following information:

    WASHINGTON, DC – This week, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) began this year’s Federal Benefits Open Season, allowing enrollees to select their health, dental, vision, or flexible spending account benefits for the year 2021.

    Beginning Monday, November 9, eligible Federal employees and retirees can elect to stay with their current plan or select a new one. Open Season ends Monday, December 14.

    Enrollees can use OPM’s Plan Comparison Tool to compare the cost of different plans’ monthly premiums, deductibles, and annual out-of-pocket maximums. These tools make it easy for customers to learn their coverage options and make an informed decision for the coming year.

    (October 14, 2020) - - Today, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management published the following information:

    WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announced today that for plan year 2021, the average total premiums for current non-Postal employees and retirees enrolled in plans under the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program will increase 3.6 percent. This year’s increase is lower than last year’s increase.

    This year, OPM has negotiated a new, seven-year contract for the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).     WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) released today a memorandum providing agencies with information on the Federal Government’s longstanding policy to grant employees limited time off from work to vote in Federal, State, county, or municipal elections.

    In addition to excused absence for voting, the memorandum encourages agencies to permit Federal employees to make use of available flexibilities to volunteer as a nonpartisan poll worker, participate in early voting, or to receive an excused absence if their polling place requires an extended commute and voting by absentee ballot is not permitted.

    WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has issued guidance to agencies in response to an increasing number of state and local governments establishing or increasing a jurisdictional minimum wage higher than the nationwide federal minimum established under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Federal employees are covered by the FLSA, which is federal law, and it includes minimum wage provisions. The FLSA minimum wage supercedes any higher wage established by state or local governments. State and local government minimum wage laws are not binding on the Federal government and its components since, under the preemption doctrine which originates from the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, Federal law supercedes conflicting state law.
