Washington - - The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced that on July 8, 2022, the United States notified Hungary of its termination of the Convention between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Hungarian People’s Republic for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income, in force since 1979 (the “Convention”).
In accordance with the Convention’s provisions on termination, termination will be effective on January 8, 2023. Treasury, IRS Announce First Round Of Opportunity Zones Designations For 18 States
Washington, DC - - (April 9, 2018) - - The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) today designated Opportunity Zones in 18 States. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act created Opportunity Zones to spur investment in distressed communities throughout the country. New investments in Opportunity Zones can receive preferential tax treatment. The United States and the European Union (EU) completed an exchange of letters to amend the Pharmaceutical Annex to the 1998 U.S.-EU Mutual Recognition Agreement. Under this agreement, U.S. and EU regulators will be able to utilize each other’s good manufacturing practice inspections of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
